Gun Safety

Issues: Gun Safety

Congress must act

Congress must pass meaningful gun safety legislation and stop the almost daily cycle of violence.  I strongly supported the bipartisan Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act  (H.R.1076), known as the “No Fly, No Buy,”  and the bipartisan Public Safety and Second Amendment Rights Protection Act (H.R. 1217), which expands our background checks system.

I believe Congress has a moral responsibility to keep guns out of the wrong hands. We must take action to prevent senseless gun violence like the tragedy that unfolded in Orlando and enact commonsense gun-violence prevention measures to keep our communities safe.

Our nation urgently needs bipartisan gun safety measures to make more Americans safe.  We need to harness the momentum from the July 2016 historic sit-in, and vote on meaningful legislation that prevents mass shootings from happening.  Congress must start by bringing bipartisan measures to the floor for a vote.

You can see a video of Rep. Levin speaking outside of the Capitol during the sit-in here.
