Rep. Levin Works to End Abusive Lending Practices

Last week, Rep. Levin joined with 100 Members of the House of Representatives in urging the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to finalize a strong rule that curbs abuses in payday, car title, and installment lending.  The CFPB proposed a rule earlier this year to rein in predatory payday and other lending practices that often imposed high interest rates and excessive fees on consumers.  In the letter, Rep. 2017-18 FAFSA Now Available for Students and Families
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2017-18 school year was made available on October 1, three months earlier than the traditional January 1 release date. Rep. Levin strongly advocated for the early release of the FAFSA, because students will more quickly know what financial aid packages are available to them from various institutions as they are deciding which school to attend. National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day
National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is coming up on Saturday, October 22 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  The goal of Take Back Day is to educate the public about the growing prevalence of prescription drug abuse and encourage individuals to responsibly dispose of prescription drugs.  Click here to locate a collection site in your community. 

Rep. Levin Attends Funeral of Former Israeli President Shimon Peres
As part of the U.S. Delegation selected by President Obama, Rep. Levin traveled to Israel for the Memorial Service for the former President of Israel, Shimon Peres.  “I was privileged to attend the funeral of former Israeli President Shimon Peres.  The remarks at the Memorial Service were all a moving tribute to his unique combination of vision and determination with the central goal of Israel’s security in a land of peace.”  You can view the President’s remarks here.
