Rep. Levin Honors Local Paramedic with Camp Pendleton Fire Department as April Constituent of the Month
Joe Jackson is Rep. Levin’s April Constituent of the Month
Washington, D.C. - Today, in honor of Earth Month, U.S. Representative Mike Levin (CA-49) announced that Joe Jackson, the President of Federal Firefighters of Camp Pendleton, is the April Constituent of the Month.
Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Pendleton Fire Department opened its doors in 1942. Since then, the Department's workforce has ensured military families and surrounding communities are kept safe. The Camp Pendleton Fire Department is an essential part of the achievements of Marines on MCB Camp Pendleton.
During their first year working on Camp Pendleton, firefighters are expected to respond to wildfires along with other emergencies on the base. With worsening year-round wildfires affecting the region and state, the work of Camp Pendleton firefighters is instrumental to preventing further damage to natural resources and protecting the community.
This year, Rep. Levin requested $26.825 million for the U.S. Marine Corps to construct a fire emergency response station in the 53 Area of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. The project would provide a facility that meets current design and seismic standards and enables firefighters to effectively and efficiently protect lives and property at Camp Pendleton.
Last year, Rep. Levin helped to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which invested more than $50 billion to protect against droughts, heat, floods, and wildfires. Rep. Levin also supported the 2023 Fiscal Year appropriations package that bolstered the nation’s frontline defenses against catastrophic wildfires.
See below for Rep. Levin’s statement recognizing Joe Jackson in the Congressional Record:
“M. Speaker, it is my great honor to recognize Joe Jackson as my April Constituent of the Month.
“Joe Jackson is the President of Federal Firefighters of Camp Pendleton. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is located in the heart of my district. The Camp Pendleton Fire Department operates a training base that equips firefighters to prevent fires from running into residential areas and surrounding communities. Their work ensures the families of Marines on Camp Pendleton and the surrounding communities are kept safe from worsening year-round fires.
“Joe has over a decade of experience with the Marine Corps Fire. He is an experienced Paramedic and an amazing example of the commitment and drive of the thousands of DOD Firefighters.
“Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Firefighters are brave individuals who put their lives on the line to fight fires. With worsening wildfires affecting our district and state, their work is instrumental in preventing further damage to our natural resources and protecting our community. I have no doubt this work will continue to make a difference in our region.
“In honor of Earth Month, I want to recognize Joe as a strong example of one of the many Camp Pendleton Firefighters who respond to wildfires and fires in order to protect our region and the families on the base. His work and leadership are admirable and contribute to our unique and beautiful district. His experiences and commitment to the Camp Pendleton Fire Department are why I’m proud to honor Joe Jackson as my April Constituent of the Month.”
