Rep. Mike Levin Applauds House Passage of Veterans Package
Package includes three of Rep. Levin’s bills to support veterans
Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Mike Levin applauded House passage of H.R. 8371, the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act. This package includes many provisions that are priorities for veterans and Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs).
“We have a duty to ensure our veterans receive the benefits they’ve rightfully earned,” said Rep. Mike Levin. “I’m glad to see Congress work together on a bipartisan basis to improve veterans’ health care, expand assistance to homeless veterans, and ensure the transition to civilian life goes smoothly. I’m especially proud that three of my bills are included in this package. These will go a long way to fulfill our nation’s promise to our veterans.”
Rep. Levin’s bills in the Dole package include:
- The Get Rewarding Outdoor Work for our Veterans (GROW) Act, which establishes a pilot program to employ veterans in federal jobs that relate to conservation, resource management, and environmental protection.
- The Commitment to Veteran Support and Outreach (CVSO) Act, which authorizes federal funding to expand the work of county veterans service officers (CVSOs), who are often the best resource on the ground to assist veterans in securing the benefits they have earned.
- The VA E-Notification Enhancement Act, which requires VA to provide eligibility and award documents related to VA educational assistance programs in an electronic format.
The Senator Elizabeth Dole package is anchored by the Elizabeth Dole Home Care Act. This legislation will enable veterans to remain at home, safely age in place, and avoid or delay admission to nursing homes and other costly institutional settings of care.
