Rep. Mike Levin’s Statement Regarding the Supreme Court’s Decision to Reverse the Federal Ban on Bump Stocks
Washington, D.C. - Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49) released the following statement regarding the Supreme Court’s ruling, led by extremist Justice Clarence Thomas, to reverse a federal ban on bump stocks.
“Bump stocks have been used in some of the deadliest mass shootings in our country’s history. It’s unconscionable that the extreme majority of the Supreme Court, led by Clarence Thomas, would overturn a federal ban on these deadly devices.
“Justice Thomas and the extreme majority rolled back one of the important steps the federal government has been able to take to address our nation’s gun violence epidemic. This ruling puts the gun lobby and industry over the lives of innocent Americans and will undoubtably result in preventable deaths.
“Congress must take action to right this wrong. We need to pass common sense measures to ban bump stocks and assault weapons. We must put an end to this senseless violence. If Congress does its job, Americans do not have to live this way.”
