Representative Levin Statement on Bipartisan Vote to Start Re-Opening Government and End Trump Shutdown
Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Mike Levin (D-CA) issued the following statement after voting on a bipartisan bill to re-open some federal agencies and help ensure that Americans receive their tax refund checks on time:
“President Trump’s shutdown is in its 19th day, and it is hurting folks in North County San Diego and South Orange County who simply want to go back to work and receive their paychecks. Trump’s shutdown is also jeopardizing tax refund checks that families need to make ends meet, which is why I joined Democrats and Republicans today in voting for legislation that will re-open the Treasury Department and the IRS. This legislation was supported by Senate Republicans just last month, and I strongly urge Leader McConnell to bring them up for a vote again.”
