Dear Neighbor,

This week, we made great progress to fund our government, bring key investment back to our community, and help the Ukrainian people. Keep reading for more details and other highlights!

Rep. Levin Secures $21.6 Million in Funding for Local Projects

My number one focus is delivering results on our local priorities, and I am thrilled that this bipartisan funding legislation is on the way to President Biden’s desk with key investments to address some of the biggest challenges facing our region.

This funding will help address coastal erosion in San Clemente, make our streets safer for pedestrians in Carlsbad, reduce homelessness and support police in Oceanside, and much more. I’m also glad this legislation includes funding for key local priorities like the disposal of nuclear waste, the cleanup of cross-border water pollution, and the funding of Impact Aid schools like San Onofre Elementary and Mary Fay Elementary.

More Aid Coming for Ukraine

Like you, I am horrified by Russia's continued attacks on Ukraine and innocent civilians. The Ukrainian people have the right to live freely and without fear. Putin's unjust war will not change this fundamental right.

The United States is continuing to impose sanctions to hurt the Russian economy, but must do more to ensure Ukrainians have the resources they need to defend themselves. That's why I voted to send $13.6 billion in military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine as part of the bipartisan funding legislation.

This emergency funding to support Ukraine is paramount for the defense of their sovereignty and for addressing the humanitarian crisis stemming from Putin’s ruthless violence.

  • Protecting Our Veterans Affected By Burn Pits: Millions of veterans were exposed to toxic substances from burn pits or other hazards during their service, and many never received the care or benefits they deserve. This is unacceptable. That's why I voted to pass the Honoring Our PACT Act last week to change that and finally do right by our veterans, and I'm proud it includes my CVSO Act to support the work of county veterans service officers who help vets access those benefits.Image
