Representative Levin Joins House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition
Washington, D.C. - Today, Representative Mike Levin (D-CA) joined the House of Representatives Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC), a group of more than fifty Members focused on combating climate change and creating clean energy jobs.
"It is imperative that we take bold action to combat climate change and transition to a sustainable energy future, and I am excited to join my SEEC colleagues who share that sense of urgency," said Representative Levin. "Our children's future depends on the steps we take now to protect the air we breathe and the water we drink, and we can do that while creating good clean energy jobs. The fossil fuel industry has had a vice grip on Washington for far too long. I'm ready to change that."
“We are proud to welcome our new colleague, Rep. Mike Levin (D-CA), to the caucus,” said SEEC Co-Chairs Reps. Gerry Connolly, Doris Matsui, and Paul Tonko. “From his work as an attorney on energy and environmental issues to his leadership in co-founding Sustain OC, Orange County's center for innovation in sustainability and cleantech, Rep. Levin has long shared SEEC’s commitment to investing in clean and renewable energy and combating climate change. We look forward to working with him to advance this critical mission.”
Throughout his career, Levin has been a passionate leader on environmental protection, clean energy, and combating climate change. After graduating from Stanford University and Duke University School of Law, Levin worked as an attorney focused on energy and environmental issues. In addition to his legal work, Levin served on the board of the Center for Sustainable Energy, and co-founded Sustain OC, helping accelerate the transition toward more sustainable power generation and transportation alternatives. He was one of the first freshman Members of Congress to endorse the Green New Deal.
