Rep. Mike Levin Honors Deysi Merino-Gonzalez as April 2024 Constituent of the Month

Vista, CA - Today, Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49) announced Deysi Merino-Gonzalez as his April 2024 Constituent of the Month. Ms. Merino-Gonzalez was born in Oaxaca, Mexico, and immigrated to the U.S. almost 20 years ago. She joined the Vista Community Clinic as a community health specialist in 2020 during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, she played a critical role in bringing vaccines and health care to agricultural workers.
In January, she was awarded the 2023 Kugel & Juroweste Health Justice Award given by the Migrant Clinicians Network. This nonprofit addresses the health needs of migrants, immigrants, and other underserved communities.
She has been a leader in advocating for health care access to migrant and immigrant farmers in underserved communities.

“M. Speaker, it is my great honor to recognize a leading figure in our local health care community, Deysi Merino-Gonzalez, as my Constituent of the Month for April 2024.
“A Vista resident, Deysi immigrated to the United States from Mexico almost 20 years ago. After joining the Vista Community Clinic as a community health specialist in 2020 during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Deysi played an important role in bringing vaccines and health care to agricultural workers in my district.
“Thanks to her efforts, Deysi was awarded the 2020 Jugel & Zuroweste Health Justice Award by the Migrant Clinicians Network. This nationwide nonprofit addresses the health needs of migrants, immigrants, and other underserved communities. Deysi’s previous experiences have given her valuable insight to understand how to improve our health care system for everyone.
