Rep. Mike Levin’s Statement on the House 2026 National Defense Authorization Act
Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49) released the following statement after voting against the House-drafted version of the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):
“Historically, the NDAA has been a bipartisan bill that brings Democrats and Republicans together to support our nation’s service members and their families. As an Appropriator and the proud representative of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, I understand what’s at stake when we are negotiating funding our military and the importance of providing necessary resources.
“Unfortunately, instead of working together, House Republicans opted to undermine months of bipartisan negotiation and politicize military funding by attaching extreme policy riders to the NDAA that divide and target service members instead of supporting them.
“Allowing extremist policies and culture war divisions to infiltrate the NDAA damages this important defense policy bill and is harmful to our Armed Forces and service members’ ability to do their jobs. This NDAA is anti-worker, anti-service member, and anti-family. I support an NDAA that focuses on the health, safety, and well-being of our military and addresses their needs, unfortunately, this one does not.
“I will continue fighting for a stronger bipartisan NDAA that adequately addresses and funds the needs of our service members and their families. I urge the Senate to remedy the poison pills included in this bill as it has done in past years and I look forward to supporting a bipartisan final product.”
