An Update on My Work for You
Dear Neighbor,
I’m fighting every single day for our veterans, seniors, families, and environment. I believe in working together whenever possible and standing firm whenever necessary.Above all, I am focused on delivering results for our community—period. I’m proud of my record as one of the most effective Members of Congress, having passed 16 bills into law under President Trump and 18 under President Biden.
Lately, however, the Trump Administration has made these efforts more difficult. Their policies threaten Social Security, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, medical research, and so many other programs that Americans rely on.
I’m meeting with members of our community and showcasinghow the Administration’s illegal actions to undermine these policies are hurting you and our other neighbors. I’m using every tool at my disposal to push back, so I wanted to take a moment to update you onthe work I’ve been doing.
Holding an In-Person Town Hall
Thank you to everyone who joined me for my in-person town hall in San Juan Capistrano. Since I joined Congress, I made a promise to hold a town hall every month, and I’ve kept that promise. This month marked my 121st town hall, which featured my constituents Suzie Dixon, Dr. Karl Steinberg, and Kolin Williams, who spoke about the Trump Administration’s threats to Social Security, Medicaid, and veterans’ benefits. It was great to see so many of you and answer your questions about everything going on in Washington and what I’m doing to support these policies and push back against the Trump Administration’s efforts to undermine them. If you missed the town hall or would like to watch the event, a recording is available on my YouTube page.

Field Hearing on Cuts to the VA Workforce & Veterans’ Services
I held an in-district field hearing with veterans and veterans’ advocates to highlight the devastating impacts the Trump Administration’s reckless federal cuts—including plans to fire 83,000 Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) employees—will have on veterans and their services and benefits in our district and across the country.Veterans make up nearly one third of the federal workforce, with many serving at the VA. It was important to hear veteransand leaders in our community share how their jobs, benefits, and health care could all be compromised.

Demanding Answers About the US Army Corps of Engineers’ Wasteful Water Release
Rep. Mike Levin Presses the Army Corps of Engineers at a Congressional Hearing
At a recent Congressional hearing, I pressed officials from the Army Corps of Engineers on the Administration'sreckless release of water in California. When the Corps couldn’t answer my questions, I led a letter to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum demanding answers.
According to official records, the Army Corps of Engineers followed President Trump’s politically motivated order to “open the valves” for the California wildfires, despite the fires being contained by the time the water was released. Ultimately two billion gallons of water were wasted by the Administration, which is unacceptable. Our region depends on imported water, and every drop of water in California that gets wasted makes it harder for our area to get drinking water and drives up costs for families.

Sharing Constituent Storiest
Last month, House Republicans passed a budget proposal that would lead to $880 billion in cuts to Medicaid. My constituent, Karl, has overseen nursing home care for 30 years in San Diego. He fully understands what these cuts would mean for health care access in our district. Make sure to listen to what he has to say.
Standing Firm Against a Harmful Government Funding Bill (CR)
Like many of you, I was deeply disappointed that the Continuing Resolution passed the House and the Senate. This was a bill riddled with funding cuts to our community, and itfailed to provide any additional assistance for California wildfire relief. I stood united with House Democrats and voted no on this partisan bill. This CR will have negativeconsequences for our veterans, children, and seniors and gives continued license to the Trump Administration to thwartCongressional authority. Please know I’ll continue to stand firm against these cuts and fight back.
