Rep. Mike Levin’s Statement on Speaker McCarthy’s Impeachment Inquiry

Washington, D.C.- Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49) today released the following statement in response to Speaker McCarthy’s impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

“An impeachment inquiry should be reserved for high crimes and misdemeanors. Based on the lack of evidence, that standard hasn’t been met in the case of President Biden – not even close.

“I wish Speaker McCarthy was more interested in getting things done for the American people than pursuing a baseless impeachment inquiry. The Speaker should be focused on the needs of working families.

“I came to Congress to deliver results for my district, not to play unnecessary partisan games. Unfortunately, what we have seen from MAGA Republicans throughout the 118th Congress is dysfunctional extremism. From the start of the Congressional session, the American public has witnessed the House Republican majority fumble through an embarrassing vote for Speaker, dangerous debt limit brinksmanship, and the inability to pass traditionally bipartisan government funding bills. Now, with this unwarranted impeachment inquiry, they are showing once again that they prefer chaos instead of responsible governance.

“It is unacceptable.”
