Representative Mike Levin Issues Statement on 10th Vote to End the Shutdown

Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Mike Levin issued the following statement after his 10th vote to end the partial government shutdown and get federal workers the paychecks they desperately need and deserve. The bipartisan legislation passed by the House today includes $1.6 billion in key border security-related measures, such as improvements to ports of entry, additional immigration judges, and assistance to Central America to help address the root cause of the migration problems.

“Federal workers and their families are about to miss their second paycheck and don’t know how they are going to pay their bills, all because President Trump decided to hold them hostage over his ineffective, wasteful border wall. Workers who are critical to our homeland security like Coast Guard servicemembers, TSA agents, and air traffic controllers are being forced to work with the added stress of not being paid. That is flat out wrong. Today, I took my tenth vote on bipartisan legislation to re-open the government and increase funding for border security-related measures. President Trump and Senate Majority Leader McConnell must stop holding American workers hostage and re-open the government, now.”
