I'm ready to help you secure a federal grant today
Dear Neighbor,
As we continue to build back better, I want to take a moment to bring your attention to federal grant programs that may be able to support organizations in our community. I'd also like to highlight some of the constituent services that our office is happy to provide.
What is a federal grant?
A grant is a way the government funds ideas and projects to provide public services and stimulate the economy. Grants support critical recovery initiatives, innovative research, and many other programs listed in the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA).
Federal grants can support a wide range of organizations, including:
- Government organizations
- Education organizations
- Public housing organizations
- Non-profit organizations
- For-profit organizations
- Small businesses
- Individuals
Am I eligible? And how do I apply?
- Check to determine your eligibility for federal grants at grants.gov.
- If you are eligible, review descriptions of available grant opportunities through the System for Awards Management (SAM) at SAM.gov Assistance Listings.
- After reviewing the listings, you can navigate to one of the federal agency websites (provided in the SAM.gov listings) to learn more about grant programs specific to that agency.
- In order to apply for a grant, you must request a “Dun and Bradstreet D-U-N-S” number for each physical location of your organization. This is required for the government to do any business with your organization and must be renewed every year. Request your D-U-N-S number here.
- You must also register your organization with the System for Award Management here.
- Finally, register as an applicant and apply for your grant on grants.gov.
- You can also track your application.

Constituent Services
In addition to assisting you with your grant applications, my office would be glad to help you navigate any issues you might have with federal agencies. Below are a few recent success stories from constituents who have reached out for assistance.
Sarah Shalviri in Cardiff received help with a passport issue:
"I have never felt more taken care of or that someone was more on my team than Congressman Mike Levin’s team. They went above & beyond to help me get my passport in an emergency situation. His team was efficient, reliable, helpful, empathetic, and overall a pleasure to work with. I can’t thank [staff] enough for saving the day and more importantly making me a forever supporter of Mike Levin. His team is a true example of a team working for their community.”
Tim Gleeson in Solana Beach received help with a passport issue:
"I have never asked for support from my Congressman ever. When I was recommended to reach out to Mike Levin's office I was somewhat skeptical. To my surprise, Congressman Levin's team couldn’t have been more responsive and helpful. Thank you for all that you do.”
Chandrashekar Dorairaj in Vista received help with an immigration issue:
"I’m glad I was able to get in touch with [staff] to get assistance and clarity on my pending immigration petition. [Staff] was great right from the beginning, she was prompt, responsive and followed up throughout the process and more importantly she understood the nuances of my case clearly to be able to effectively assist with the case. I always felt that she took interest as this was her own trouble. Again, thank you very much [staff] and Mike Levin. Your help is very much appreciated and will never be forgotten!"
