Rep. Mike Levin Honors Miriam Zuniga as September 2024 Constituent of the Month
Carlsbad, CA – Today, Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49) announced Miriam Zuniga as his September 2024 Constituent of the Month for her work to support and strengthen Latino communities in South Orange County.
Miriam is the Director of Adult Programs at Unidos South OC, Vice President of the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC), the lead coordinator for the Community Leader Coalition, and sits on Rep. Levin’s Latino Leadership Advisory Council. In her roles, she works to amplify the voices of Latino families, focusing on housing justice, educational equity, civic engagement, and cultivating access to resources.

“M. Speaker, it is my great honor to recognize Miriam Zuniga as my September 2024 Constituent of the Month. Miriam’s dedication to the Latino community in San Juan Capistrano has made an incredible impact, particularly through her leadership as Vice President of the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC), lead facilitator for the Community Leader Coalition (CLC), and role as Director of Adult Programs for a local non-profit, Unidos South OC. Her advocacy has focused on critical issues including housing justice, educational equity, resource access, and fostering civic engagement to ensure that Latino families have a strong voice in our community.
“Miriam's work in the Capistrano Villas neighborhood exemplifies her commitment to housing stability and safety. She has led grassroots efforts to address concerns and advocate for affordable housing solutions. Additionally, her involvement with the Community Leader Coalition has empowered the Latino community to actively participate in local elections and pursue leadership roles.
“Beyond housing and civic engagement, Miriam has championed youth empowerment by advocating for better school transportation access for low-income families and has supported health and wellness initiatives by organizing mental health workshops in Spanish. She has also been a steadfast advocate for undocumented individuals, representing their needs in local and national discussions.
“Miriam’s tireless work has uplifted and strengthened the Latino community in San Juan Capistrano. It is an honor to recognize her as my September 2024 Constituent of the Month.”
